With no prior skill necessary, textile and metalsmith artist, Helena Marette, will help you create a vibrant, sturdy, heirloom-quality bowl or vessel in this fun workshop.
In this fun workshop, you will learn the skill of making a hand-woven wall hanging using a variety of textures and stitching techniques. No previous experience necessary. Materials will be provided and you are welcome to incorporate your own materials into your artwork.
This workshop will cover making an open twined basket, traditionally used for storing garlic, from start to finish.
It's a great introduction to working with natural reed and creating a structural vessel by following a simple weaving pattern.

Helena Marette was an entertainment director at a jazz club and a chain of restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Her creative passion first flourished with an innovative line of recycled artwork. Turning lost and forgotten objects into marvelous symbols of hope, Helena toured annual festivals and art shows around the Atlanta area for years.
Having pioneered a new contemporary direction in fiber arts, Helena was chosen to demonstrate both, her needle felting and jewelry techniques in the 2004 HGTV show “Crafters Coast to Coast”. (episode: HCC2 C-156). Helena was very humbled at the opportunity to reach the worldwide HGTV audience.
Helena's felted artwork was published in Candie Cooper’s book: Felted Jewelry - released by Lark Books in Spring 2007. She has also been featured in magazines and periodicals --- Her artwork is currently available at boutiques in Georgia.
